R.M. Sherai Fonseka is a Research Intern at the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) and a third-year undergraduate reading for a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. She is also pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, specialising in Politics and International Relations, at the Open University of Sri Lanka. She holds a Diploma in International Relations from the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) with a Merit Pass and is currently reading for the Higher Diploma in International Relations at BCIS, while also pursuing a Diploma in Diplomacy at the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI). Sherai, is also a member of the Moot Court and Debating Society (MCDS) of KDU and the Advocacy Department. During Sherai’s tenure as the Director of International Service of the Rotaract Club of KDU she completed 100+ letter head exchanges and is the Treasure of the Advocacy department of MCDS of KDU. Her research interests are on international relations and Law.
As a Researcher within the INSS, he recently authored an article on Energy as a weapon of war. He is also publishing research on "Energy Dependence in Sri Lanka: Assessing Import Vulnerability, Renewable Energy Potential, and Policy Pathways toward Self-Sufficiency", with a specific focus on Sri Lanka’s transition toward renewable energy, hoping to provide an insight and the potential of adopting green energy for Sri Lanka. He hopes to contribute to the growing body of literature on energy, national security and diplomacy, specifically on geopolitics, how they are interlinked, and leveraging diplomatic relations to benefit the Sri Lankan people and the state.
