Colonel Nalin Herath RSP Assumes Office as Acting Director (Research) of INSS

Colonel Nalin Herath assumed his new role as Director (Research) at the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) in a simple ceremony held at the INSS office in Suhurupaya, Battaramulla, on 4th September 2023. His appointment, effective from 1st September, 2023, was made by Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil and received his appointment letter from the Additional Secretary (Defence Services) Jayantha Edirisinghe on 31 August 2023. Notably, Colonel Herath continues to hold his current position as the Director of Media and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence.

Colonel Herath's distinguished military career spans over 28 years, marked by an unblemished record and significant achievements in various senior staff and administrative roles. He is highly regarded as an expert in International Relations and is renowned for his proficiency in leading multinational and inter-agency teams, as well as for forging strategic partnerships, even in challenging environments encountered during UN Peacekeeping Missions. Furthermore, Colonel Herath is a motivational speaker, lecturer, and accomplished author, with two published books to his name, "Globe in a Nutshell" and "Geopolitical Alliances and Rivalries Set in Stone." His multifaceted expertise and dedication to service make him an invaluable addition to the INSS leadership team.
