INSS Celebrates New Year with Traditional Sweetmeat Ceremony

The Institute of National Security Studies (INSS), the premier think tank on national security, ushered in the New Year with a traditional sweetmeat ceremony before resuming official duties. The event was graced by the presence of Director General Col. Nalin Herath RSP, Senior Assistant Secretary (Defence Services) Ms. Kashuni Liyanage, a representative from the Ministry of Defence, and all other INSS staff members. Dressed in new clothes to mark the special occasion, participants began the celebration by lighting the traditional oil lamp, a symbol of bringing blessings and prosperity to the institution and its employees. The ceremony concluded with a tea party featuring milk rice and a variety of traditional sweetmeats, fostering a spirit of community and cultural appreciation among the members.
