INSS Welcome New Research Interns

The Institute of National Security Studies is delighted to welcome five new research interns who commenced their six-month internship on 9th January, 2024. Throughout their internship, these individuals will actively participate in research initiatives and events related to national security. Their primary task is to provide valuable recommendations aimed at addressing the challenges identified within the realm of national security. We look forward to their contributions and wish them a fulfilling and enriching experience during their tenure.

Mr. U.G.W. Rajinda Jayathilleka serves as a Research Intern at the Institute of National Security Studies, having earned a Second Class Lower degree in Social Sciences from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. Notably, he participated in the Sakura Sciences exchange program in Japan and holds a diploma in International Relations from the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies. His diverse academic interests encompass geopolitics, strategic studies, and diplomacy.

Ms. D. Lakshi Nawoda Upananda currently serves as a Research Intern at the Institute of National Security Studies. She is pursuing her BA (Hons) in International Studies at the University of Kelaniya and has also successfully completed the Diploma in International Relations at the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies. Her academic interests lie in gender studies, cybersecurity, and humanitarian crises.

Mr. M. Rivindu Samadhith Perera is currently serves as a Research Intern at the Institute of National Security Studies. He is in his final year as an undergraduate Law student at the University of London (International Programmes) through Horizon Campus in Malabe. He holds both a Certificate and Diploma in International Relations from the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies. His research interests span cognitive approaches in psychology, arts, political studies, and diplomacy.

Mr. M.P.D.S.L. Chandrasiri is currently serving as a Research Intern at the Institute of National Security Studies. He is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution at the University of Colombo, concurrently studying Human Resource Management at the same institution. Additionally, he has obtained a Diploma in English from the University of Wayamba. His research interests revolve around peacebuilding, reconciliation, rehabilitation, and human security.

Ms. H. M. Thanuri Jayodya Abhayapala is currently interning as a Research Intern at the Institute of National Security Studies. She is in her final year, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations at Metropolitan College, Dehiwala. Her research interests span a wide range of contemporary issues, including healthcare, human rights, environmental protection, and national security.
