The Institute of National Security Studies (INSS), the premier think tank on National Security, welcomed the New Year 2024 with a simple yet meaningful ceremony on 1st January 2024. The entire staff came together, donning new clothes to mark the significance of the day.

Customarily the official ceremony commenced with the singing of the National anthem followed by observing a two minutes silence to commemorate the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland. After that; all staff members read aloud the Oath of Public Servants.

Representing the Director General and Actg. Director Research, Colonel M B B Nalin Herath RSP, the Director (Administration) of INSS delivered a brief speech, discussing government policies and the strategies introduced to address present challenges.

To mark the beginning of the new year, all members lit a traditional oil lamp, seeking blessings and prosperity for the institution and its employees. This was followed by a delightful tea party featuring a spread of milk rice and traditional sweetmeats, fostering a spirit of togetherness and celebration.
